Omaka Classic Fighters Air Show, Blenheim, Marlborough, New Zealand

My impetus for this trip to New Zealand, a place I've always dreamed of visiting, was the Omaha Classic Fighters Air Show held at the Omaka Aviation Heritage Center in Blenheim.  In the heart of wine country in Marlborough which stretches the across the northern part of South Island, Blenheim is a small town that serves the huge wine industry in the area.  After pulling in to our camper van site around 2:30 pm, we quickly set out to see the sites of the air show.  A twilight show was on tap, beginning at 5:30 pm.  We watched that and the subsequent fireworks pretty much closing the place down around 9 pm and going to sleep at 10pm.  The next morning we returned to the show to witness some amazing vintage aircraft flying as well as WWI and WWII battle re-enactments.  For lunch, we had "Whitebait," something I had never heard of and is considered a delicacy here in Kiwi Land.  It is, essentially the spawn of fish that hasn't fully developed.  They look like tiny worms with eyes. (I know, it sounds strange, but when in Rome....).  They are mixed into a batter of eggs and flour and then poured onto a griddle not unlike a pancake then served with a squeeze of lemon, some salt atop a slice of white bread.  I am a fan.  It was delicious.
